History of Nyaho

Bust

Nyaho Medical Centre was founded by the late Dr. Kwami Nyaho Tamaklo in 1970 with the sole aim of establishing a modern private hospital, equipped to provide the highest standards of health care services to the Ghanaian general public.

Nyaho Medical Centre was established as Nyaho Clinic, the first private group medical practice in Ghana and the founder was inspired to use this model upon reading Mayo Brothers as a medical student, the story of how two brothers teamed up to establish the world renown Mayo Clinic in the USA.

When Nyaho Clinic begun its operations, the core of the group medical practice consisted of one (1) general practitioner, Dr. Tamaklo himself, and eight (8) specialists from the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. Today, Nyaho Medical Centre operates with six (6) general practitioners and over thirty (30) regular specialists.

A ward was opened up in 1981, the Diagnostics Centre commissioned in 1994 and by 2001, Nyaho Clinic was ready to go by its new name – Nyaho Medical Centre
